Ride through the tunnel that carried Abraham Lincoln’s coffin after his assassination in 1865.
Join us on our 7 mile round trip Howard Tunnel Excursion on the Northern Central Railroad. You will ride through scenic farm land, pass by colonial stone houses, over river bridges, and through villages that have not changed since the 1700s. The highlight of this excursion is the Howard Tunnel. Built in 1838 it is the 2nd oldest railroad tunnel in the USA. It carried Abraham Lincoln’s coffin to his burial after his death in 1865. This track is all flat; there are no hills and bikes do not need motors.
