AMERICAN RAIL BIKE ADVENTURES® operates rail bike excursions on tourist railroads and abandoned railroad tracks in York, PA and Las Vegas, NV. 

What happens when you put together the love of the outdoors with the love of the railroad? Our story began when several tourist railroad volunteers were eating lunch at a local restaurant and began discussing how it would be fun to allow people to ride the rails again. While looking at history books of the construction of the transcontinental railroad, one of the friends noticed a photo of a type of pedal powered railcar from the 1880s.

Months of discussion led to several of the volunteers, who were retired mechanical engineers, designing and building their own modern rail bikes.

AMERICAN RAIL BIKE ADVENTURES began offering excursions using their newly designed rail bikes anywhere they could find a railroad track. In 2021, the company began contracting with tourist railroads and offering scheduled excursions.

Our first excursions were held with 6 of our custom built rail bikes on the Stewartstown Railroad in York County, PA. Soon overwhelmed with demand for this unique experience we added 10 more bikes. Our second operation soon opened on the Northern Central Railroad in New Freedom, PA with 20 rail bikes.
